THE PERFORMER
VIKAS VARNIKA SANKARGANESH
The Performer Vikas Varnika Sankar Ganesh is a high school graduate from Stanton College Preparatory School in the International Baccalaureate Program. Vikas is well known for her pretty smile, elegant poise, and affectionate nature among her friends.
Recently, Vikas has won the Miss Stanton 2023-2024 Scholarship Pageant Title along with the Most Talented & Loyalty Awards. She broke barriers by becoming the first person of Indian Descent to win this highly coveted title, ever since its inception in 1983.
She competed in various segments: informal spirit wear, talent, on-stage questions and answers, and formal wear. For the Talent routine, she performed a Garba-Raas style dance, all while maneuvering and dancing with a Metal Robot that she built! The stage became her canvas, allowing her to shatter stereotypes emphasizing that girls belong and can excel in both dance and STEM fields. Winning the title of Miss Stanton has given her the megaphone to use her voice, which was once undermined as the only girl on her robotics team, to bring more girls and boys alike in STEM to the forefront.
Her chosen platform for the Pageant was to make the STEM field more inclusive. With consistent hard work, grit, and perseverance, she earned her spot in the Senior High Royal Court and won the Best Interview Award.
From childhood, Vikas has been keen on learning various skills like calligraphy, gymnastics, and karate, as well as predominantly all forms of dance like hip hop, Bhangra, Raas, folk, classical, and Bollywood. She has performed in World of Nations, Night of Asia, and various cultural events organized by Regional Associations.
Vikas was the president of Stanton’s Multicultural Association her senior year, and was the Director of Decorations her junior year, leading the Raas Dance Group both years as well. Stanton's Multicultural Association is dedicated to celebrating diversity and ethnic backgrounds in the community. Students unite to showcase their passion for unique cultures through the arts and
education, which is manifested in the annual extravaganza and expo.
She was the School Dance Team Captain, in her Senior Year, providing a fun, fresh form of school spirit and leading her team at pep rallies, basketball games, and Stanton’s annual Winterfest show.
Visiting South Korea as a Foreign Exchange Student helped her embrace various cultures, kindled her passion for travel, and made her a strong independent person.
In High School, Vikas was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Psi Alpha Psychology National Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society.
Volunteering in multiple after-school robotics programs at Title 1 schools enabled her to get selected through the Mayor’s Youth at Work Program as an intern at the Ronald McDonald House Charities. She saw firsthand the crucial role of the medical field. Interacting with families and their terminally ill children profoundly influenced her aspirations to choose the pre-med track in college. While working at the front desk and KidZone, she had the chance to engage with kids facing unimaginable situations. In those moments of empathy, witnessing their strength and resilience deeply moved her and reinforced her determination to enter the medical field.
Vikas is attending the University of Central Florida this Summer and majoring in Psychology in pre-med track.
